Going to Greater Heights
Vladamir "Val" Suchevan, CEO of Absolute Development in Marbella, Spain, went to new heights for Christel House this past October. Over the course of 10 days, Val climbed to the highest base camp on Mount Everest - 17,585 feet (5,360 meters) above sea level - and raised more than $5,000 for our Serbia program. Val commented on his experience, "It was one of the biggest emotional and physical challenges in my life".
Going to Even Greater Lengths
Just when it seems that Peter Hutchinson has exhausted (quite literally!) the limits of physical endurance and fortitude to raise funds for Christel House kids, he finds yet another way to surpass his previous accomplishments. After running 4 marathons in 4 weeks in 2007, this past June Peter completed the Comrades Marathon in South Africa-the equivalent of TWO marathons in a single day! Peter ran more than 54 miles in 11 hours, 45 minutes, raising an incredible $100,000 for Christel House-which included his own personal contribution to match each supporter's gift.
Christel House in Times Square
The Reuter's digital billboard in New York's Times Square recently featured this photo which celebrated the conclusion of Group RCI's 'Summer of Christel House.' The company presented a $100,000 check- combining employee donations with a generous corporate match-to Christel House founder and RCI Co-Founder, Christel DeHaan. "From day one, RCI has distinguished itself through its people," an overwhelmed DeHaan told the many employees and former colleagues in attendance. "This is a gift of love for which I am humbled and grateful."
